Privacy Policy

How we handle your data, your clips, and your trust.

1. Information We Collect

We prioritize data minimization. We only collect the absolute minimum data required to provide the clipping service and manage your subscription.

A. Platform Data (Discord & Telegram)

  • User IDs: We store your unique Discord ID or Telegram ID to identify you and sync your Premium status.
  • Server/Group IDs: We log the ID of the server where a command was used to check for "Server Premium" entitlements.
  • Usernames/Avatars: We may cache your display name or avatar for display on the web dashboard.

B. Usage Data

We log command usage (e.g., "User X created a clip from YouTube") for analytics, rate limiting, and debugging purposes.

We do NOT read your messages. SnipRelay only receives messages that start with our specific prefixes (like /snip) or when directly mentioned. We do not store chat logs.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use the collected data for the following purposes:

  • Service Provision: To process the video URL you provide and deliver the resulting clip back to your chat.
  • Account Management: To verify if you have an active Premium subscription or Day Pass.
  • Improvement: To analyze which platforms (YouTube, Twitch, etc.) are most popular and optimize our infrastructure accordingly.
  • Compliance: To enforce cooldowns and prevent abuse of the Free tier.

3. File Storage Policy (Ephemeral)

We operate on an Ephemeral Storage model to protect your privacy and reduce costs.

  • Temporary Processing: When you request a clip, the video is downloaded to our temporary worker servers.
  • Immediate Deletion: Once the clip is successfully uploaded to Discord or Telegram, the file is immediately deleted from our servers.
  • Failed Jobs: If a job fails, temporary files are automatically purged within 1 hour.

We do not maintain a library or archive of clips created by users.

4. Third-Party Sharing

We do not sell your data. We only share data with trusted third parties necessary to operate the service:

Service Purpose
Stripe Payment processing. We never see your credit card details.
OVH Server hosting and video processing infrastructure.
Discord / Telegram API transmission of messages and files.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

  • All web traffic is encrypted via SSL/TLS.
  • Database access is strictly limited to authorized personnel.
  • We do not store passwords (authentication is handled via OAuth2).

6. Your Rights

Under GDPR and similar privacy laws, you have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you (mostly User ID and subscription status).
  • Deletion: Request that we delete your account data from our database. Note that this will cancel any active subscriptions.
